  • The Raku Technique

    The Raku technique is known for its beauty and unpredictability, which reveal themselves through cracks, streaks, and irregularities on the surface of each piece. The Raku process involves rapidly heating the ceramics in a kiln to around 800–1000°C, followed by quick cooling. After firing, the pieces are often placed in a combustible material such as sawdust, which ignites from the residual heat. This reduction process creates the characteristic black cracks and distinctive colors typical of Raku ceramics.
